DAY SCHOOLS

Here is the current day school list

Playing with Fibres (This is the newest and most popular dayschool)
Using natural fibres, such as silk carrier rods, silk cocoons, and Mulberry bark to make bags, jewellery, or panels.

Through the looking glass
This class involves the use of various types of fabric layered up to create a feeling of depth. A central square or rectangle is created either with fabric or embossed metal around which decorative borders are embroidered, cutting back through the layers of fabric and various ways of making patterns with stitch. This is a fun day school whatever your level of experience.

Walnut Purse,

This purse, based on an example from the V& A collection involves covering a walnut shell with fabric and hand stitch to create a delightful miniature purse, a real heirloom for the future.

Indian Mosaic,

“My sort of patchwork”, this class requires a sewing machine to join strips of fabric together (this can be done prior to the day). The strip patchwork is then cut up to form kaleidoscopic patens, which are bonded to a back ground and embellished with hand or machine stitch. This is a really useful technique to learn with many applications from bags cushions, panels etc.

Elephants Galore
Appliqué hand or Machine elephants of all different shapes and sizes.  Bags, cushions, panels, and hangings can be made

Heavy Metal
Use of metal foils and knitted metal wire tubes in creative embroidery. Includes colouring by heat, embossing, and other texturing techniques

Bands & Borders
Pattern making using painting, appliqué, hand stitch etc. in bands. These can be made into bags, panels, cushions, etc
.

Current charge £120+40p/mile, but depends on the year of the day school.
